Savor the Summer - Fresh blooms on a budget!

A few days ago my dad and grandmother came over to have dinner at our house and they brought over some sunflower stems from Publix as a small token of appreciation for having them over for dinner! I love those little reminders and sweet thoughtful gifts, don't you? Anyway, the sticker on them said 3/$12 which is how I figured out the math - $4 for 4 sunflowers stems. I put the flowers in a vase and they were quite bare and for lack of a better word...boring. I grabbed my scissors and headed to my backyard to snip some foliage from bushes and trees to create a lovely and full fresh floral bouquet that was just stunning. For less than $5 I was able to create something fresh and different for a centerpiece and bring life to kitchen nook. The best place to look for beauty is right under our noses!
