New Year, New House!

Guys, this new home build is such a dream come true for us... & it all started as an idea. I mean, during the early stages of the Covid pandemic we felt like we could really use a pool to get the kids moving, get their energy released and have some safe, at home entertainment. Little did we know it would lead us here!
I wanted to jot down some of the FAQ on the choices we made for the house in one spot for reference purposes so I’ll be adding to this as more questions come through! Also including my opinion on what to keep an eye out for if you’re building.

Let’s go! For the floors we chose a 6x24 wood tile, Ranch Wood Beige. It's a modern wood look balanced with a rustic vibe and a mix of dark and light tones. We love that it's tile and looks like wood!
The interior walls we knew we wanted white, and with our builder we had only one white option. Although it's a color we like, it's a flat paint (hello fingerprints!) so we will eventually be adding some type of craftsmanship to the walls and likely using the same color in a more kid-friendly finish. The all white walls makes the house feel so big!!
Interior Paint color: SW7006 Extra White

The exterior of our home is a super fun chameleon color. I swear it has hints of green and blues depending on the time of the day but the color itself is actually in the gray family!
Exterior Paint Color: SW7058 Magnetic Gray (Accents: SW7005 Pure White & SW6236 Grays Harbor)

For the kitchen, a bright white shaker style cabinet to match the rest of the all white house & Colton Cambria Quartz for the countertop. ALLLLLLL THE DREAMS COMING TRUE HERE GUYS! ✨ It’s a white quartz with rustic grey and gold flecks. Loveeeee it.
Things I learned along the way, and helpful tips for someone building:
• be persistent & be involved.
• splurge on your must haves. I was really hesitant to install the farmhouse sink because - budget - but it was something my husband really encouraged me to bite the bullet on and dang, I am SO happy we did.
• if you can, hold off on builder grade mirrors, light fixtures and bathroom fixtures. It’s an inexpensive update to make your home look custom and will save you gobs of drywall repairs in the future!
• we changed the cabinetry molding to a 5” molding after we snapped this pic ( it was 2.5” in the photo ⬇️) in my opinion, it really makes a statement now.

It feels so surreal to be living here! I’m really in my own little slice of heaven. I must say one of my very favorite things about this home is the neighborhood we live in and friends we have made being here. We drove through the neighborhood at all times of the day before committing to the lot & what we saw absolutely sealed the deal for me. Kids were outside playing in the cul-de-sac daily and I really got the sense of community here which was huge to me! I grew up on a cul-de-sac and have the BEST memories of my childhood.
There’s a lot of time energy and research that goes into buying and/or building and my biggest advice is to have FUN!
With grace & gratitude,
Caitlyn
