The PERFECT gift... a PSA to all my mom friends' husbands.

I was recently gifted the very best gift I could have ever asked for. Actually, I did ask for it.. but I asked for it in a way that was kind of rhetorical and slightly joking. I enjoyed this gift so much and when I shared it on Instagram, the response from my mommy friends was absolutely ASTONISHING. I mean, I had so many DM's and well wishes it made me think... I NEED to share this with their husbands.

For my thirty-first birthday I was gifted a night alone at a boujee hotel. ALL ALONE.

Do you know what that means? That means... No wiping poopy bums. Nobody asking for another glass of water at 10PM. No waking kids up to use the restroom at midnight. Nobody breathing heavily in your face at 5:30AM asking if it's "good morning time" yet. No crying over what flavor oatmeal they didn't get. No mess to clean up. No blood curdling screams when someone's hair gets pulled. Nobody tugging at your legs to be held all day. No dishwasher to empty. No repeating myself 10 times before a task gets done. I think you get the point. The ONLY thing I have to worry about for about 20 whole hours is MYSELF.

Here are some things I did get to do:

1. Decide what and where I want to eat and drink ...that doesn't have to be family friendly. (Keyword: I)

2. Silence. Peace and quiet.

3. Read a magazine from front to back.

4. Listen to an audiobook.

5. Use a facemask while doing #3+4.

6. Jump on the bed.

7. Watch HGTV, uninterrupted.

8. Take a long shower knowing good and well that cry that I'm hearing is only in my head.

9. Unapologetically sleep through the night.

10. Listen to music that is not PG.

You know what? I seriously think every woman, mom or not, deserves this gift at least once a year. I mean, 1/365 is doable, right? Zero mom guilt. ZERO. Not even a full day away means I didn't even have a chance to miss my kids because I knew in a few short hours I could kiss the lovin's out of them.

So husbands, for your next gift, call that fancy hotel, grab a gift bag, fill it with a twist top bottle of wine, a magazine, some snacks and a card with "NIGHT AT A BOUJEE HOTEL" written in it. But trust me when I say, a GOOD hotel is the key. You'll thank me later.
