A peek into our family photos

When a friend of mine told me that the wildflowers were in bloom at Myakka River State Park, I knew I couldn't miss the opportunity for a family photo sesh! It was perfect timing since Mav is walking assisted and not a teeny tiny baby anymore, so we needed an update on those photos! Isn't it funny when family only asks for a picture of your family as the ONLY gift they want? Does your family do that? It's like... okay, I get it and because they're treasured memories and you love us, but do you even knowwwwwww the effort and struggle it is to get our whole family coordinated outfits and happily smile to take photos in a hot field swarming with lovebugs? (See photo below for example. SWARMING!) Eh, it's onllyyyyyyyyy a photo. Can't I just go on amazon and grab you a stylish present instead? ;) Kidding. Kind of.

Honestly, the majority of our family photos starts with everyone on edge because mama bear wants everyone to not ruin their outfits and be five minutes early and stressing about achieving perfection, This time was different. I really wanted to make it an easy and fun experience for us all. I decided ahead of time that worse case is we got no framable photos and we all laugh about the experience...and have a beer afterward.

I picked out my husbands shirt that I know he'd be comfortable in, let him pick the rest of his outfit and I worked on building the rest of the family outfits from there. No micromanaging. Chill pill. << Me, talking to myself.

I picked out the kids outfits to be easy and comfortable as well. Target FTW! We all got there in time and of course Maverick was due for a bottle, the heat flattened my hair pin straight & the sun was BLINDING so that went swimmingly with my let's just go with the flow plans. If you can't tell by now, I'm a little bit of a control freak and I was REALLY trying to keep it together with the 'who really cares' vibes. Needless to say, we survived and had fun. My husband might say I was MOSTLY successful at the chill vibes. We still got that beer. A big shoutout to my friend Danielle who was jumping like a crazy person in a field with us to grab the babies attention and snapping photos with my camera while nursing her son - multitasking at it's finest. That's a good friend! & Photo cred to my instahusband for snapping all the mommy & me photos!
